While he is aggressively mounting a campaign for California Democratic Party Chairman, John Burton has opened up a new campaign account – Board of Equalization in 2014!! The odds of that happening are about the same as the odds that Burton was going to run for the previous name under which he was storing his left-over campaign cash – a committee for superintendent of public instruction. But as long as he’s got a committee open, he doesn’t need to spend the cash…Speaking of cashing, looks like former Assemblyman Lloyd Levine has landed a job with one of the businesses he used to regulate. The former chairman of the Assembly Utilities Committee landed a gig as a VP for Verizon, whose bills come before the Assembly Utilities Committee. Hard to fault the guy for it, but it is just one more sign that the Legislature has devolved into a resume builder for people who are eager to cash in…And it’s domino season in California. As the president-elect prepares to pluck from California’s congressional delegation for his cabinet, folks in Sacramento are cueing up. Gil Cedillo is preparing to run if Xavier Becerra is made trade rep, and Wes Chesbro is among those contemplating the possibilities if Mike Thompson is tapped for Interior Secretary…
