CHP commissioner honored in Arizona

California Highway Patrol Commissioner Joe A. Farrow has been honored by the Governors’ Highway Safety Association for the development of a 19-minute DVD that offers guidance to law enforcement officers who must make split-second decisions in pursuits. The DVD has been distributed nationwide.

Farrow received the award Tuesday at the GHSA meeting in Scottsdale, Ariz. The GHSA represents law enforcement agencies across the country.

The DVD is called P.U.R.S.U.E., for Prepare, Understand, Stop, Utilize and Examine.  Some 17,000 copies of the DVD have been distributed.

The nonprofit GHSA represents the highway safety offices of states, territories, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. GHSA provides leadership and representation for the states and territories to improve traffic safety, influence national policy and enhance program management.  Its members are appointed by their Governors to administer federal and state highway safety funds and implement state highway safety plans.
