Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,
I enjoyed your feature story on the Cristo Rey students who work in the Capitol. Most of your readers probably do not realize there are other Cristo Rey students working in the legislative/political environment. My office employs a team as do some other lobbying and association offices. Prior to the academic year all incoming freshmen are required to attend a four week training in office etiquette and procedures and computer training. By the time our team of students was assigned to us, they were ready to go to work. Crsto Rey gives students from disadvantaged homes, who might not otherwise even complete high school, the realistic probability of graduating from college. Besides being a Cristo Rey employer, I was recently named to the school’s Board of Directors. I invite other readers who have questions about the school or its work-study program to call me or stop me in the Capitol halls.
