Governor hopes reelection bid will boost sagging initiatives

With a campaign kickoff scheduled for Friday dovetailing with the Republican
Party convention in Anaheim, Arnold Schwarzenegger is hoping to use this
weekend to ease the minds of the party faithful and loosen the wallets of
potential donors for his three initiative campaigns.

But to do that, Republicans say, the governor must leave no doubt that he is
running for reelection. Among those urging Schwarzenegger to make the
announcement now was former Gov. Pete Wilson.
