No. 93 Stephanie Roberson

Lobbyist Stephanie Roberson is something of a unicorn. The owner of Stephanie Roberson Strategies, “a boutique, Black-owned single member firm,” – the number of which you can count on one finger – Roberson is a well-seasoned Capitol veteran who got her start way back in 1999 working for Attorney General Bill Lockyer. She stayed until 2007 when she joined the California Nurses Association as their chief lobbyist, playing a critical role in building the organization into one of the Capitol’s fiercest players. Once she left the Nurses and hung her own shingle, she quickly acquired clients like the California Chamber of Commerce and the California Medical Association and Affiliates, two big fish in a pond full of them. And this year she snagged perhaps her biggest catch of all – Major League Baseball. It’s easy to see why she is so successful. She has long been a major player across a wide array of issues, from labor and health care to reproductive rights and education. She is widely known and respected for her tenacity and work ethic.
