Healthcare is always a major policy issue in Sacramento, and even more so now with massive federal spending cuts coming next year. Which makes people like SEIU Senior Government Relations Advocate Tiffany Whiten even more influential than usual. She has become a ubiquitous presence at the Capitol, where she has built an incredibly strong network of relationships that give her easy access to lawmakers and staff virtually any time she needs it. She has advocated for just about every form of healthcare in her career, with particular expertise in representing the interests of 400,000 long-term care and in-home care workers. Some of that passion is driven by her own experience as a family caregiver to her mother with Alzheimer’s. Tia Orr is always near the top of this list for a reason, but nobody should sleep on Whiten, who is without question one of the most impactful labor folks in the game.
