Capitol Weekly’s Top 100: Lea-Ann Tratten

Tratten is one of the most versatile and effective lobbyists and political strategist out there. She also consistently flies under the radar for some reason, so we’re going to have to change that. She has been the Political Director for the Consumer Attorneys of California for years, meaning she often leads the annual brawls the CAOC has with business entities or the healthcare industry. Whether there or through TrattenPrice, the consulting firm she co-founded with business partner Jena Price, Tratten has long been a serious player at the nexus of a wide range of industries, from healthcare and insurance to environmental policy and tort law. As is the case with several folks on this year’s list, she had a heavy hand in the battle between Uber and the Consumer Attorneys, helping to forge an agreement that resulted in a pair of what promised to be very expensive initiatives being negotiated off this year’s ballot. That probably disappointed a lot of political consultants’ accountants, but voters heaved a sigh of relief.
