Capitol Weekly Podcast: Tom Chorneau

Longtime journalist Tom Chorneau joins the podcast to talk about his debut novel, Enterprise Reporting, which follows one of the state’s top political reporters and his lobbyist uncle as they game the system during Arnold Schwarzenegger’s reign as California governor.

Of course, it’s all fiction — wink, wink — but the characters are eerily familiar: Enterprise Reporting is informed by Chorneau’s real-life experiences covering Sacramento, and featuring thinly-veiled portraits of familiar Capitol figures, the novel is a fun read for those who live and breathe California politics – or just like a good crime tale. Or both.

There’s enough skulduggery for all, and Chorneau should know. He’s covered politics for years for the Chronicle and the AP, among others, and now he’s managing editor of the Cabinet Report, which focuses on education.

Another point in his favor: Looks like he gets his aloha shirts from the same place I do.
