Brokers offer matching funds for Stanford Home for Children

A coalition of commercial real estate brokers is matching local residents’ charitable donations to boost fund-raising for the Stanford Home for Children, which was founded more than a century ago.

People who donate to the Stanford Home before March 19 will have their gifts matched by the Association of Commercial Real Estate, or ACRE, which has often spearheaded fundraising drives for the Home.

Last year, ACRE and the Stanford Home for Children raised $410,000 together to help Stanford Home purchase a building that would house all of its programs under one roof and allow the group to maximize efficiency. This year, all donations will support Stanford Home’s family-centered programming.

Founded in 1900 by the Stanford family, Stanford Home for Children was operated by the Sisters of Mercy, who ran the orphanage through the late 1980s. Today, Stanford Home provides a comprehensive array of community-based, family-centered services for 1,800 children and family members each year who receive professional treatment and compassionate care to help them regain self-confidence, overcome challenges and move toward independence. ACRE is a nonprofit, professional association serving the Sacramento commercial real estate industry. ACRE brings together commercial brokers and affiliated professionals for business networking, educational presentations and discussion of industry developments. Now in its 28th year, ACRE has a long history of celebrating industry accomplishments by giving back to the community.

The group has donated more than $2.5 million to area nonprofits. For more information, visit

“ACRE’s unique view that success should be shared across the community is a true reflection of the group’s membership,” said Keith Diederich, executive director of Stanford Home for Children. “These are some of the most generous people I know, and we are honored to use their hard-earned dollars to make sure that all children in Sacramento County have a safe home and a loving family.”

“Stanford Home is doing some incredible things here in Sacramento, and it is an honor to again partner with them to help our local families not only survive, but thrive,” said ACRE president Laura Kozier of Associates West Commercial Real Estate, Inc.
