It’s the end of session, and we know what you’re all thinking: Where in the world is the portrait of Bob Margett? The Capitol’s Mona Lisa was last seen at the ice-cream social hosted by Sen. Roy Ashburn. Yes, the same ice-cream social where a reported 330 gallons of ice cream were consumed, according to an errant press release. (An amended version later left out the extra zero.) No word on how much ice cream the Margett portrait consumed. … Looks like more former journalists have gone to the world of PR. Los Angeles PR firm Red Gate Communications has hired former Sacramento Bee reporter Laura Mecoy as a “strategic communications advisor.” … Meanwhile, former Sac Bee opinion page editor William Kahrl has joined KP Public Affairs. This is not Kahrl’s first post-Sac Bee gig. He has since been working as a consultant on water policy. … Speaking for former journalists, a big end-of-session congratulations to Jim Evans, Sen. Darrell Steinberg’s communications director, and his wife, Lark Park, who works for the Senate Health Committee, on the birth of their new baby boy.
