Dining Out: M.V.P. Sports Grill

M.V.P.’s Sports Grill’s patio was a happening spot at noon on a Tuesday afternoon. There were people playing dominos at a nearby table. I could hear a grunt and roar each time a star player appeared on the huge television, which was placed on shaded patio. I have to say, I surely don’t remember the food at any other sports bar being so dang good or seeing quite so many TVs. If you decide to eat inside, they have 21 flat screen TVs all showing the top sports package games, not to mention a full bar.

A few moments after I sat down, a friendly face greeted my colleagues and me offering a cold coke or some iced tea and zipped away with our order. I opened the menu to find they had just about everything, including sandwiches, burgers, salad, soup and pizzas. They even have a “Lightweight” section ($7.25 each), which includes a few choices for those who are trying to get in shape for the summer. Each of the Lightweight entrees is served with fruit and cottage cheese.

The waiter stopped back by to drop off our drinks and tells us about their Tuesday taco plate special. Although enticing as it was, I had my mind set on some sort of cheeseburger. I decided on the Allstar Mushroom Burger (a very reasonable $6.45). My meal included a choice of fries, coleslaw, green salad, potato salad or soup. I went for the fries. My colleagues ordered pizza. They offer over a dozen specialty pizzas, as well as a create your own option. They settled on the traditional pepperoni pizza ($4.50 for a 7” mini) and the vegetarian’s delight ($5.10 for a 7” mini), with mushrooms, olives, onions, and red and green bell peppers.

Just before the food arrived, the waiter stopped by with a Corona Box, which held silverware, extra napkins, ketchup, mustard, and hot sauce. The girly side of me comes out when I say it was so cleaver and cute! Minutes later our food arrived. I lifted the bun up to see a nice sized patty covered with mushrooms and pepper Jack cheese (you can choose your cheese by the way). They put all the extras on the side, which was nice because you could pick and choose what you wanted.

My first bite told me everything I needed to know. This place had good burgers! The mix of the beef, mushrooms, and jack is still making my mouth water (note to self, go back soon!) After stuffing my face, I politely asked my colleagues how their pizzas were. I got thumbs ups as both of them had their mouths full. We have tried a couple pizza joints in the area and this was surely among the top. Although I didn’t get a slice, I did get to hear about the tasty sauce and perfectly crispy crust. I focused back on my plate that was piled high with fries that were thick and tasty. With such reasonable prices and delectable food, we decided we were going to make our way over there again very soon.
