Top 10 lobbying firms billed more than $40 million

The top 10 lobbying firms in Sacramento brought in more than $40.4 million during 2013, including nearly $11.6 million during the final quarter of the year alone.

The figures were listed Monday in the Capitol Morning Report, which provides detailed scheduling, employment, campaign and job information to elected officials, government employees, trade groups and lobbyists, among others.

CMR’s report was based on data provided by the Secretary of State’s office, which tracks campaign and lobbying spending. The deadline for lobbyists to submit their reports was Friday.

The top biller was KP Public Affairs, at $6.2 million, followed by Lang Hansen O’Malley and Miller Governmental Relations at $5.82 million.

In order of their billing the others were:
–Nielsen Merksamer Parrinello Gross & Leoni, $5.05 million.
–Capitol Advocacy, $5.02 million.
–Aaron Read & Associates, $4.93 million.
–Sloat Higgins Jensen & Associates, $4.76 million
–Platinum Advisors, $4.6 million
–Governmental Advocates, $3.14 million
–Shaw/Yoder/Antwih, $3 million
–Greenberg Traurig, $2.86 million

The top 10 companies and groups that hired lobbyists during 2013 spent a total of $30.5 million, led by the Western States Petroleum Association at $4.67 million and the California State Council of Service Employees, $4.26 million.

The other top spenders were:
–Chevron Corp and its subsidiaries, $3.95 million.
–California Chamber of Commerce, $3.7 million.
–California Hospital Association/California Association of Hospitals and Health Systems, $3.15 million.
–Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. — $2.24 million.
–AT&T Inc. and its affiliates — $2.33 million.
–California Medical Association — $2.27 million.
–SEIU-UHW (Labor organizations) — $1.88 million.
–Southern California Edison, $1.84 million.
