Experts Expound

“We’re less than three weeks out from Election Day. What can we expect in the final stretch?”

Get on your rain slickers because the mud will be flying.

A careful, thoughtful discussion of the issues and well-reasoned analyses of the impact of public policy on the people of California. Not!

Ads and personal attacks. People will make their decisions based on the lesser of evils. There is no passion on the part of the voters, only fear. We can also expect a low turnout.
Given the nature of the final debate, we’re in store for a carpet-bomb attack of negative advertising and the relentless images of Jerry and Meg on every conceivable venue – broadcast TV, cable, Internet, newspapers, whatever.  I’m tired already.

No new ideas. No solutions. No substance. Ugly and mean from everybody.

Many more stink bombs.

The tide seems to be shifting incrementally toward Democrats, at least in California.  Not sure how Meg and Carly make up the ground they’ve lost over the last few weeks, given that their positive messages are getting so little traction.  After doom-and-gloom predictions just months ago, the competitive legislative races also seem to be trending toward Democrats – primarily because the Republicans are out of cash.  That being said, this is the most volatile electorate in recent memory and anything is possible and needs to be calculated into polling samples.

Millions of dollars more of Meg’s mug on TV, a possible macaca moment from Jerry Brown, and furious GOTV efforts by both sides to get voters off their sofas.

Unfortunately, no more gotcha surprises.  Just a lot of TV, radio and robo calls.  No more mortgage and debt-relief commercials for a few weeks.

Millions in TV and radio ads and mailboxes overflowing with hit pieces leading to voter apathy.

Flying monkeys. Didn’t somebody say something about Whitman being a “witch?”
