Capitol Weekly’s Top 100: Jacob Mejia

We’re not sure there are enough words to do justice to everything Jacob Mejia does. For TASIN he sets agendas, follows state and fed bills and regulations, writes press releases, organizes candidate interviews, puts on summits and writes testimony. For Pechanga he does local, state and federal oversight, policy & liaison direction and assists in all press for the Pechanga Development Corp, the Pechanga Resort & Casino & Pechanga Tribal Council, from gaming to charities. He also assists Pechanga Tribal Chair Mark Macarro in his role as Chair and as President of NIGA (National Indian Gaming Assn). He works closely with the various Pechanga legal teams, in-house and contract, and also works with the lobby teams in both California and DC. And somehow he finds time to oversee all ballot measures of tribal importance and Pechanga IE’s surrounding campaigns, and all of it done with grace and respect. Which is probably why he is one of the most respected tribal employees in the state and beyond. Note: Mejia is on the board of Open California, the publisher of Capitol Weekly.
