Earlier this year Gov. Gavin Newsom signed SB 447, which among several things overturns California’s travel ban to states with anti-LGBTQ+ laws and replaces it with the Bridge Project, short for Building and Reinforcing Inclusive, Diverse, Gender-Supportive Equality Project.

For decades, polling relied on a strong pool of easily reached voters with a traditional land-line telephone. Before caller-ID became prevalent, nearly every call was answered as long as someone was home. But now more voters are untethered from traditional phones (I haven’t had a land line since 1998), and those who do still have them complain that most incoming calls are from telemarketers.

OPINION: The conventional wisdom, promoted by some advocacy groups when it suits their purposes, is that seniors are sad, helpless creatures who prefer to sit on the couch clutching their turntables and rotary phones, in front of black and white television sets, searching for reruns of Lawrence Welk. These demeaning attitudes are far from true.
