“Will Abel Maldonado pull an Arlen Specter? Would he? Should he? Could he?”

I know Arlen Specter. Arlen Specter is a friend of mine…and believe me, he’s no Arlen Specter

No, he’ll wait to be appointed lieutenant governor if Garamendi wins CD 10. And the Senate would probably confirm him even though he is a Republican, because they could then take the Senate seat in a special.

He should sit tight until the CD 10 election is decided. If Garamendi wins, why wouldn’t Maldonado be the perfect choice to be appointed Lt. Governor?

Probably not. Should he, probably yes. His district would be fine for him to run as a newly minted conservative Dem. He has a day job and could risk it. He would have lots of financial and psychological support for such a move.

Well, it makes a certain amount of sense. The Republican Party is now such a tiny, narrow, hateful, fanatical extremist bunch that no decent normal human being can win in its primaries.

Who cares? Term limits will solve that problem.

Should he? Could he? Yes and Yes. I mean, why would anyone short of a masochistic nimrod want to be a Republican in California?

Join us, Abel, and sleep the sleep of the righteous.

Who cares? Don’t let the door hit you….The Democrats would find him to be equally without convictions.

Not when he’s poised to be Attorney General. And Democrats don’t exactly have the welcome mat out.

Can you spell Lt. Governor?

Well, first he has to see if Garamendi gets elected to Congress, because he could wind up being appointed Lt. Governor by our very inclusive governor.

I can’t see it. Unlike Spector, it’s hard to see how he wins a Democratic primary.
