“In the GOP race for governor, there has been considerable coverage of Meg Whitman but relatively little of Steve Poizner. What’s going on with Poizner?”

He is all about transparently cynical politics, deceivingly packaged in well-meaning geekdom. What leadership or inspiration is there to cover?

Poizner needs to step up and match Whitman dollar for dollar, or he’s done. Either he doesn’t have it, or he’s not willing to spend it.

Small, Jewish, thinker, rich. If Woody Allen were running he might have a shot. Poizner, no.

She is spending much more money so far, plus he is running a campaign that the media is very cynical about.

Mr. Poizner appears to be betting that substance closer to the election will mean more than eMegs consultant induced ego boosting spendthrift ways. If she spends her own money this way how will she spend our tax dollars?

Poizner is running a perfect campaign…for Assembly.

News is about things that are new and different. Poizner is a man with government experience, which fits the profile of most California governors. Whitman is more of a departure from the norm: she comes directly from the business world and would be our first woman governor.

Steve who?

Moneybags Meg is the flavor of the month. Poizner is yesterday’s news and is (rightly) perceived as having no chance at the nomination.

He can’t get traction. The press is dismissing him. Whitman is the focal point because of staff and money. Campbell is the darling of the policy wonks and good gov’t folks and there isn’t a slot for Poizner.

Right about now his head is exploding with anger, because no one is seeing just how intelligent, insightful, independent and charismatic he really is. His eventual conclusion? It’s the consultant’s fault.
