The Top 100 Party, Tuesday, August 9, 2022
We are excited to announce our first LIVE event in two and a half years: The Top 100 Party is BACK!
Each year, Capitol Weekly’s Top 100 names the most powerful movers and shakers in California politics. We don’t include elected officials. Instead, we look at those who devote their professional lives to fighting for – or against – issues of state politics and policy, including lobbyists, bureaucrats, activists, trade group leaders, Capitol staffers and even journalists.

The latest edition of the Top 100 List will be released at a lively end-of-session reception on Tuesday, August 9. You’re invited to celebrate with us at this very special mixer. Enjoy a hosted bar, delicious snacks and a set of all-California music from DJ Tim Matranga in one of the most beautiful historic settings in the city. You’ll have fun! You’ll be the first to receive a copy of Capitol Weekly’s 2022 Top 100 Book!
And, we’ll be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Open California, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit publisher of Capitol Weekly!
Open California was founded in 2012 to continue – and expand on – the important public policy work done by Capitol Weekly.
Ten years later, Open California is thriving. We’ve maintained a grueling schedule: regular updates to CapitolWeekly.net, the Roundup and The Capitol Weekly Podcast; produced our quarterly Public Policy Conference series, and our Public Policy Journalism internship program.
Come help us celebrate a return to the IN-PERSON Top 100! Tickets to the Top 100 Party are $100 each, and the ticket price is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Or, become a Top 100 Party Host for $500 and receive five tickets and our undying gratitude. (Call for details.)
Don’t miss this very special night – see you on August 9!
