Public Policy Journalism Internships

Applications for our winter 2024/25 program are now closed.

Applications for the Spring 2025 program will open on December 1, 2024

Capitol Weekly nurtures the next generation of public policy voices with our Journalism Internship Program. We have hosted dozens of interns from esteemed institutions such as UC Center, the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, Arizona State University and California State University, Sacramento.

Many of our interns have gone on to full time jobs in journalism or Public Affairs. Capitol Weekly interns are mentored and gain experience covering the major issues and personalities in Sacramento.

Under the guidance of Capitol Weekly, they develop  sourcing, how to report on complex and evolving public policy issues, and how to craft a story for publication. Our interns will ultimately have their work published under their own byline at Capitol Weekly.

This is a paid internship.
