The Skinny: Playing host

It caught our eye last week when LAO Mac Taylor was listed as the “special guest” at an event hosted by Anthony Adams in the Capitol Morning Report’s “Daily Bread” section. Taylor was the featured speaker at a “breakfast club” meeting hosted by “Adams for Assembly 2010.” So, what was the non-partisan LAO doing at a fundraiser in Claremont? Well, Taylor says the event “was not a fundraiser,” and was “surprised” to see it billed as such. Taylor says it was simply a chance to brief local business leaders and elected officials on the state’s ongoing budget struggles, and how the federal stimulus plan will work. Attendance at the event was $25, which covered the cost of breakfast, but an Adams spokesman said attendees “can come for the price of breakfast, which is $25, or they can give more than that.” … Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t done playing with the Obama administration. Not by a long shot. While the governor has emerged as the president’s go-to governor on infrastructure issues when it comes to the stimulus, Schwarzenegger is getting ready to play host to a health-care summit meeting called by the Obama administration in April. Details are still fuzzy, but the meeting is expected to be one of a handful of similar meetings held around the country to talk health care. The California meeting will be the Western States confab, with HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius expected to be among those on hand…
