The Skinny: Moving on

Martin Garrick is charging into the Assembly Republican leader’s office next week. And as the Assembly GOP changes hands again, some of the staff is turning over as well. Blakeslee staffer Delette Olberg left her gig at Southern California Edison to lend Blakeslee a helping hand, but she is expected to go back to Edison when the transition is complete. Also leaving is Jennifer Gibbons, who originally was in Mike Villines’ communications shop, but stayed on after Blakeslee took over for Villines last year. Like Olberg, Gibbons will go back to her old employer but in a slightly different capacity. Gibbons will be splitting her time between Villines’ Capitol office and his Insurance Commissioner campaign office… The Capital Fellows Alumni Affiliate and the Center for California Studies invites all members of the Capitol community to a mixer and opportunity to support the family of Will Smith. Will was an Assembly Fellow in 1992-93 and in his years as an Assembly and Senate staffer was a mentor and friend to countless Fellows and Capitol staff.  Will’s sudden passing has left his wife and four children in real need.  A table will be set up at the mixer to take contributions to the Will Smith Memorial Fund.  Checks made out to the fund are preferable.
