The Skinny: Ace in the hole

Well, this being recess and all, we might as well kick this week’s edition off with a golf story, since 75 percent of your are probably out on the links this week anyways. Our story begins on the par-3 17th at Barley Cavanaugh. That’s where CSLEA lobbyist Coby Pizzotti teed up a shot and aced it.  On hand to witness the feat were, Shant Apekian of the CA Apartment Association, Todd Roberson from Jean Fuller’s office and Kelly Calkin, political director for the Califorian Professional Firefighters. According to Calkin’s account, Pizotti abided by “hole-in-one tradition, (and) generously bought a round of drinks for the entire clubhouse when we finished” … Speaking of things you need to see to believe, we’ve gotta ask. Why aren’t Senate Rules Committee hearings videotaped? Sure, you can order transcripts of meetings from the pro tem’s office, but really, would it be that hard to roll the tape? Hey, maybe we’ll start doing it ourselves…And we’ve got another name to throw into a potential Assembly race should Joan Buchanan decide to run for Congress and/or Senate — Elk Grove Councilman Gary Davis. That’s g-a-r-y, not, g-r-a-y. Davis has a stint with Darrell Steinberg on his resume, and strong labor ties, and is interested in running for the seat, should it become vacant.
