The Skinny

A few weeks ago, Capitol Weekly told the story of Assemblyman Lloyd Levine firing his chief of staff, Stuart Waldman, and pulling his endorsement of Waldman, who hopes to replace his former boss in the Assembly next year. Well, apparently the announcement came too late for Waldman’s printer. The candidate is now circulating a campaign walk piece that boasts all of his endorsements, including one for former Speaker Robert Hertzberg, and one prominently placed piece of Liquid Paper tape. We can’t exactly make out the name underneath, but we think it starts with an “L” and ends with an “loyd Levine.” …

Speaking of Levine, looks like he has finally tapped a successor to Waldman. His office announced this week that legislative director Tara Mesick has been promoted to chief of staff. Meanwhile, Levine hired Samantha Stevens, who will work out of his district office, as a senior adviser. …

And it looks like there will be another Capitol chief of staff opening soon. Shaun Flanigan, chief of staff to George Plescia, is leaving the Capitol to join the family business. Flanigan, like his relatives before him, will register as a lobbyist and join the Flanigan Law Firm, one of the state’s top lobbying outfits.
