We couldn’t help but notice that Sen. Mark Wyland is advertising for a new chief of staff. So we decided to ask his current chief of staff, Peter DeMarco, what gives. DeMarco says he is planning on leaving the Building some time in the near future, but his parting with Wyland is amicable. DeMarco would not divulge where he is headed as of yet, and said he would remain while Wyland searches for a new chief of staff. … Speaking of moving on to an as-yet-undisclosed location, Chamber of Commerce spokesman Vince Sollitto is returning to the Silicon Valley to chase his start-up dreams yet again. Sollitto, who was employee No. 30 at PayPal, and was there through the acquisition of the company by eBay, says he’s been itching to get back into the business world. And while he described his new employer as “still in stealth mode,” he did say it was “in the search [engine] space.” Sollitto and his wife, Candy, still own their home in Mountain View, and will be moving back in at the end of the month. … Speaking of returning to where you came from, Warren Furutani, the Capitol staffer who lost to Laura Richardson in the 2006 race for state Assembly has announced he will try again. With Richardson moving on to Congress this week, Furutani gets another shot at the brass ring that eluded him last time out. Furutani has been endorsed by a number of Assembly members, including Mike Eng, Ted Lieu, Fiona Ma and Alberto Torrico, along with Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
