California’s “First Partner” Jennifer Siebel Newsom is smart, articulate, idealistic — and cautious. Well, most of the time she’s cautious. In a recent appearance before a capacity crowd at the Sacramento Press Club, Newsom, a film-maker with an MBA from Stanford, acidly dismissed President Trump as the “the embodiment of toxic masculinity.”
Gavin Newsom, the former San Francisco mayor who roiled Democrats across the country when he issued marriage certificates to same-sex couples, was sworn in Monday as California’s 40th governor. He succeeds the unprecedented, largely successful tenure of four-time governor and fellow Democrat Jerry Brown, who moseyed on back to his 2,500-acre ranch in Colusa.
Some folks in Europe are worried about stem cell research, particularly about organizations like California’s $3 billion stem cell agency. The alarm was sounded just yesterday in Horizon, which calls itself “The EU Research and Innovation Magazine.”
