It isn’t spring time in Sacramento, far from it, but people have been giddy and smiling throughout the Capitol – mostly Democrats but some Republicans, too – and all because Jerry’s in and Arnold’s out. Good vibes in the building never last, and given the budget that awaits us Monday, these won’t either. That’s when the oxen will start getting gored, beginning with social services. But until then, there seems to be mixture of hilarity and anticipation, tinged with dread. Maybe it’s whistling past the graveyard…Speaking of graveyards, the hot topic in the Capitol isn’t the budget, it’s Schwarzenegger’s last-minute commutation of the manslaughter sentence of Esteban Nunez, the son of former Speaker Fabian Nunez, a move that drew consternation. Well, life is unfair as somebody once said…
