In our eternal search for the local angle, we find that Catherine Mandler, daughter of former Capitol Weekly publisher Ken Mandler, is on the ground in Cairo with a ringside seat to the turmoil: Catherine, a student, was enrolled in an Arabic-language program and waiting for classes to begin when the demonstrations erupted.
