Don’t mess with the Capitol Weekly. On Wednesday, Jan. 26, a woman came into our offices and stole an employee’s purse. In the photo section in the next day’s issue, we printed a surveillance camera photo of the suspect along with a request for information. Within a few hours, an anonymous caller who saw the photo on Page 3 and recognized the woman tipped us off to her identity – which we turned over to the police. The Sacramento Police Department, based on the information we provided,  issued an arrest warrant last week for a woman named Brandi Tate. A police detective told us that officers  would have arrested her already except she’s no longer staying at her official address — i.e., she’s on the run. So we’ll just go ahead and apologize right now to Jerry Brown for making it a little harder to cut prison spending…
