Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

It’s unfortunate that the article on the LAO (Capitol Weekly, April 8) mischaracterized the debate over AB 32 as business interests vs. environmental interests, as that is not the case.

Californians understand that we can have both clean energy and a strong economy; it’s not an either/or proposition. That’s why the state’s leading employers — among them Google, Waste Management, Applied Materials, and the Bay Area Council — oppose the Texas oil companies dirty energy proposition that would kill AB 32 and the tens of thousands of jobs being created because of this landmark law.

It should also be noted that the LAO reviewed the major study used by Assemblymember Logue to oppose AB 32 and found it to be “useless.”
