Embattled Coastal Commissioner Steps Down

California Coastal Commission member Jim Aldinger abruptly resigned his position Friday, bringing to an end a lengthy, head-to-head confrontation with Senate Leader Don Perata, who demanded his ouster for being untruthful with the Senate.

“Happily, certain factors in my life have developed in a fashion that present a significant opportunity in my professional career,” Aldinger wrote Perata. Aldinger said his resignation would take effect Friday, following the Coastal Commission
