700 Doctors. 4 Hospitals. 1 Plan.

You refuse to overpay when you go to the store.  So, why should you overpay when it comes to open enrollment?

CalPERS understood that challenge and created Region 1A.  Now if you live in Sacramento, Placer or El Dorado counties, you can select Blue Shield’s NetValue plan for comprehensive coverage at an affordable price — and with the high-quality doctors and hospitals you know and trust.

In Region1A, members who select the NetValue plan can select Hill Physicians as their medical group and a Hill Physicians primary care doctor.  If inpatient care or major surgery is ever needed, that comes from Mercy hospitals.  That means you have access to over 700 doctors and four hospitals through one plan.  So, while the region itself may be new, the doctors and hospitals involved in it are well-known.

And, as you may have seen from your enrollment guide, the plan pricing, low co-pays and comprehensive benefits are extremely attractive.

How is this possible?  CalPERS asked healthcare organizations to come up with innovative ways to hold down the rising costs of healthcare.  Hill Physicians, Mercy hospitals and Blue Shield are coming together to create a virtual integrated model of care in Region 1A.  This approach emphasizes health education, wellness, preventive care and case management, with nurses who will help you get back on your feet if you’re hospitalized or coping with a complex illness – making your healthcare even healthier.  The benefits offered by Blue Shield in the NetValue plan are the same as in Access+, so you don’t have to choose among quality, price or coverage – you get all of it.

Making this option even more attractive are the advantages that come with having a Hill Physicians doctor.  Not only do you have the choice of over 700 doctors around Sacramento, but referrals are easy too. Your primary care physician (PCP) can refer you to a specialist in our network without waiting for administrative authorization. And you can self-refer to anyone in our network for vision, mental health and OB/GYN services. Hill Physicians members also get unique, value-added services and conveniences such as discounts on yoga and massage services, free teleclasses, audio and video podcasts, and may qualify for low-cost nutritional, acupuncture and chiropractic services if their PCPs recommend them.  That’s why over 38,000 CalPERS members around Sacramento have made Hill Physicians their medical group.

Backing this up is exceptional quality.  The Standards of Excellence Program of the California Association of Physician Groups recognizes Hill Physicians as a state-wide leader in patient-centered care, care management practices, health information technology, accountability and transparency. The California Office of Patient Advocacy and the Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) consistently rank Hill Physicians as one of the top performing medical groups in California. So when you choose Hill, you are choosing quality.

Shop smart this open enrollment.  Choose Blue Shield’s NetValue option and then list Hill Physicians as your medical group.  If you need help selecting a primary care physician, visit www.HillPhysicians.com/Calpers or call (800) 445-5747, Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm.
