The Kinde Durkee scandal is spreading. A number of politicos have lost campaign funds, and there may be more. What impact, if any, will this case have on elections next year?

Because there are contribution limits at both the federal and state levels, much of the stolen money cannot be replaced. Donors who have already maxed out under the applicable limits will not be allowed to contribute more, even if their original contribution is gone. Durkee needs to go to prison for a very long time.

Was Durkee the treasurer for Solyndra?

Wrong question … The CORRECT question is this: How many extra fundraisers are going to be scheduled starting yesterday to replace the embezzled moola? The answer, deep sigh, is way too many. Just what those of us who take the phone calls needed this fall!

It will have no impact.

Several legislators will be out of luck in their quest for the next job.  And every campaign will ask for monthly copies of their bank statements or online access to accounts.

Who knows what’s going on? But if she diddled the books on dozens of campaigns, this could be the biggest California brouhaha since Reagan failed to pay taxes. And if it’s hard for those to replace that money because of contribution rules, the Democrats will get hurt.

Hopefully, the Dems will spend less.

It is important that the FPPC and FEC freeze all of the impacted accounts until 2016.  We need to be safe and make absolutely sure this is fully investigated.

Other than pols claiming poverty and hitting up donors for more money, zero impact.

Seems odd that so many campaigns would use the same treasurer, from local races to DiFi. Was she really the only one out there worthy of hire? I bet she knows where a lot of bodies are buried.

It will be impossible to ever know, but you gotta think more money will just move onto the “Citizens United” side of the ledger. But that was already the trend anyway.
